Scalp Disease

The hair on the human body is one of the most important and significant organs.

It plays a vital role in human existence by providing thermal and mechanical protection to the body.

Hair also serves as a source of beauty, strength, and comfort to people. Diseases and disorders can arise from improper care and grooming of hair.

One such disease that affects hair is the scalp disorders. Scaled skin diseases can affect various types of hair on the body, including eyebrows, eyelashes, beard, and pubic hair.

Scalp diseases are caused by internal and external factors.

Diseases can spread easily to the scalp due to the close proximity of hair follicles to other parts of the skin.

External factors that cause diseases on the scalp include harsh climates, poor hygiene, injuries, burns, excessive sunlight, harmful chemicals, chemicals or medication applied to the hair, irritants such as cigarette smoke, and more.

Internal factors that cause diseases on the scalp include excessive internal moisture or oil production, an imbalance of bodily fluids, diabetes, cancer, protein deficiency or protein accumulation, parasites and more.

On top of that, poor nutrition may cause diseases on the scalp to be worse.

Since hair is an extension of the body's health, keeping it well groomed helps keep it well-nourished and in good working condition.

Hair diseases can have severe effects on a person's appearance if left untreated.

Excessively used hair strands can cause problems on the scalp- this is known as trichotillomania.

Trichotillomania is when a person repeatedly pulls their hair out without realizing it.

The stressors leading to this malady are unknown but theorized causes are chronic fatigue syndrome and emotional disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

The affected person may also suffer from skin disorders such as eczema or psoriasis (a chronic skin condition).

Scalp diseases often go undiagnosed as people with trichotillomania don't seek medical attention for their habit.

However, once diagnosed by a doctor it's often hard to stop picking one's hair without professional help.

Scalp problems are aggravated by excessive heat applications.

This includes using curling irons, hot rollers or flat irons on the scalp for styling purposes.

Irons placed too tightly against the scalp can damage hairs by scorching them or burning them away entirely.

Additionally, using hot combs or brushes on the scalp causes excessive heat application as well as friction against the scalp; both are equally damaging to hair follicles.

People dealing with chronic scalp conditions should avoid using hot items on their scalps unless absolutely necessary.

Instead, they should use cold items such as soothing ice packs for increased circulation and reduced inflammation in affected areas of the scalp.

Since hair plays a major role in human appearance, keeping it well-groomed keeps health in check along with beauty and comfort levels.

Scalp diseases are treatable when people recognize they're afflicted and seek medical attention early enough.

Diseases can be prevented through careful care and grooming practices at all times!
